Guys, this is a shameless plug for my last book, Faces of Evil, which is now out in paperback and available at Amazon.com.
(I also found it at Barnes & Noble and it is available at Barnes & Noble online. If you don't find it on the True Crime shelf, it may have been mistakenly put in Social Sciences.)
I wrote this with Lois Gibson, the forensic sketch artist for the Houston PD. Lois is a gifted artist whose forensic sketches have helped law enforcement officers bring down more than a thousand murderers, rapists, kidnappers, and child molesters.
Lois's story is, itself, fascinating. The victim of a horrific rape and brutal assault when she was a young single woman living in L.A., she took that life experience and turned it into a mission of sorts--not only does she help coax victims to remember the worst thing that ever happened to them when it's the last thing they want to think about, but she helps them cope with with their trauma through compassion and empathy. She is a valued asset not just to the Houston P.D., but she also has assisted the FBI and America's Most Wanted.
We took a number of Lois's most unforgettable cases--some very high-profile--and put them into individual chapters, like the blind woman who did not see her attacker, but who Lois helped catch anyway; the police officer who was shot, run over, and dragged behind a car who communicated to Lois through eyeblinks while heavily medicated and in Intensive Care; and one serial killer who Lois helped catch by coaxing memories from victims of nearly 20 years before.
Sorry for the shameless plug, but I'm guessing some of you guys like to read my stuff ha ha, and if you're fans of true crime, you might like this book. Send it to me and I'll sign it for you.
