"History's verdict is all we have left.  And when tomorrow calls today into account, some of us want to say we stood up.  We called out.  We were not silent."

MY LATEST BOOK, NOW OUT IN PAPERBACK

Guys, this is a shameless plug for my last book, Faces of Evil, which is now out in paperback and available at Amazon.com.

(I also found it at Barnes & Noble and it is available at Barnes & Noble online.  If you don't find it on the True Crime shelf, it may have been mistakenly put in Social Sciences.)

I wrote this with Lois Gibson, the forensic sketch artist for the Houston PD.  Lois is a gifted artist whose forensic sketches have helped law enforcement officers bring down more than a thousand murderers, rapists, kidnappers, and child molesters.

Lois's story is, itself, fascinating.  The victim of a horrific rape and brutal assault when she was a young single woman living in L.A., she took that life experience and turned it into a mission of sorts--not only does she help coax victims to remember the worst thing that ever happened to them when it's the last thing they want to think about, but she helps them cope with with their trauma through compassion and empathy.  She is a valued asset not just to the Houston P.D., but she also has assisted the FBI and America's Most Wanted.

We took a number of Lois's most unforgettable cases--some very high-profile--and put them into individual chapters, like the blind woman who did not see her attacker, but who Lois helped catch anyway; the police officer who was shot, run over, and dragged behind a car who communicated to Lois through eyeblinks while heavily medicated and in Intensive Care; and one serial killer who Lois helped catch by coaxing memories from victims of nearly 20 years before.

Sorry for the shameless plug, but I'm guessing some of you guys like to read my stuff ha ha, and if you're fans of true crime, you might like this book.  Send it to me and I'll sign it for you.

That's OK Deanie, I shamelessly plug my blog every chance I get.

I have your book on order from the library. Sorry, as they used to say in a completely different vein "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free." On the other hand I spend hours watching everything from to Forensic Files on Court TV to Most Evil which is now on one of the History Channels. So I look forward to reading your book. My daughter is a big fan of "Bones" on FoxTV (I know I hate admitting to anything Fox), she might read it after I am done.

No, not at all.  My blog is supposed to notify me by e-mail every time a comment is posted.  I don't visit the blog every day, lately.  I've been very busy working for Huffingtonpost.com's "Off the Bus" section.  Anyway, only this last of your previous three comments was e-mailed to me, and I didn't know you'd posted anything.  Don't worry about smart-assness.  All smart-asses are welcome here.

As far as "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free"--my books are completely unrelated to my work on the blogs.  They are not printed versions of my blogs.  I've had eleven books published, long before I started blogging.  Suspense thrillers, mostly.  FACES OF EVIL is a true-crime.  I'm working on a book now, but it's not a compilation of blogs either.  So it's not the same cow, so to speak.  More like a bull ha ha.

That's great!  I hope you enjoy it.  It's my only true-crime.  All ten others were suspense thrillers.
