I was WONDERING why you've been quiet for the last week. It's good to have you back.

My wife's son works for Vestas, a Danish builder of wind turbines. He's visited out in your area in support of their installations. I've sent him a link to this post in thanks for that work, and for his support of Obama.

My mother's epiphany came when she and dad visited the American cemetery at Normandy. She wept when she saw the endless rows of headstones covering the hills, and thought, "What a waste." And she spent the rest of her life fighting against war. Dad flew fighters over the channel during WWII, and made his career in the defense industry - but he joined her in her fight, and made it his own, one of many veterans who signed letters and petitions against the Iraq war.

Just 3 more threads in that tapestry ...

Hey Nigel, haven't you heard? Most of us don't GET pieces of paper anymore. In fact, I press a computer button and PRAY that the candidate I voted for actually gets my vote and not the other candidate, which often happens.

Obama is indeed the hot favorite over here in the colonies. His ground game has been nothing short of phenomenal. I have read articles posted by reporters in many different states, who've visited campaign offices of both candidates. They say that the McCain offices have just been opened and look it, with one or two volunteers and few walk-ins. The Obama offices have been up since January, when he was fighting Hillary Clinton for the nomination, and they always have dozens of volunteers, lots of foot-traffic, and the hum of excited activity.

Some states allow for early voting, and every day, the lines have stretched for blocks. Exit polls show him trouncing McCain in early voting, 59% to 38%, which, thought not indicative of Tuesday's vote, still a good sign.

I recently read that the Republicans can no longer afford to pay their ground-game organizers and have abandoned the Get Out the Vote effort for anyone but their hard-core supporters. In Sept, Obama received donations from 690,000 new doners, an average of $86 apiece, earning him a whopping $150,000,000 for that month alone. He now has more than 3,000,000 doners, the majority of whom send in $25 or so.

What this says is that he has great popular appeal here, as well as globally, where informal polls taken among foreign populations who can't vote, give him the choice 80% of the time.

I don't believe he will disappoint. I think he's going to go down in history as one of our greatest, most inspirational presidents.
